 Introducing an absolutely breathtaking, vintage 1950’s, maroon-red, velvet and tulle party dress by Coquette Originals. That label specialized in these frothy, high-end, party gowns, loaded with beautiful construction, gorgeous detailing, and lovely full skirts featuring lots of tulle. They don’t make em like this any more!

This particular example is a dramatic, show-stopping, strapless number, with a beautifully tailored, velvet bodice with boning for structure and hidden snaps that allow a matching shoulder wrap (please ZOOM on the last photo in the queue to see the shrug) to be fastened into place, if you prefer. There is a long acetate underskirt which has two layers of gathered tulle over it and an extra panel of free hanging tulle in front with several velvet leaf details sewn onto it. Pure Lavish Gorgeousness <3

This gown is in Excellent vintage conditions. No flaws to note, clean and ready to wear. It closes on the side with a metal zipper and the shrug snaps into place. The bodice is unlined. the shoulder wrap is lined in tulle. Dry Clean Only.

Sizewise, there is a label in the shrug that states a vintage size 16 (oh– how the sizes have changed!), and I would estimate it to be a modern XS-Small. But please see the measurements below. They were all taken with the garment laying flat, seam to seam, and have already been doubled where necessary. Please compare them to a similar garment of your own. There is not much stretch to the fabric.

The lovely Electra is 5’8″ and a modern small, for reference. Also of note, she is barefoot for these photos, so you can get a better idea about the length of this gown.

Bust->32″ (81 cm)
Waist->23″ (58.5 cm)
Hips-> 44″ (112 cm)
Entire length from top of bodice to hemline->50″ (127 cm)

Set your inner debutante free! A rare and beautiful lil piece of herstory, so if you love it, don’t let it dance away.

The other two dresses seen in this listing are also for sale and can be found in my items.
