Introducing a darling, vintage 1960’s, square dance patio dress! This piece is Beyond Adorable, with a sweet, soft cotton, novelty print fabric, which features ultra feminine flowers and fluttering butterflies, a beautifully tailored bodice with dramatic angel wing (butterfly wing?) sleeves, a full gathered ruffle skirt at a short sassy length, and finished with the loveliest moss green lace trim. Nothing but L<3VE for this one, my hauties! Pure mid century Americana gorgeousness.

PLEASE NOTE-> This dress is being modeled with a crinoline to fill the skirt out, as it was intended with this silhouette. The crinoline is not included.

This dress is in very good-excellent vintage condition. The only flaw found is two very light marks on the bodice, right above the waistline. I attempted to remove them with Oxiclean when I laundered this dress and they lightened a bit, but did not come out completely. Please see the second-to-last photo in the queue and ZOOM for better detail. I will soon attempt a careful swab of hydrogen peroxide (just waiting for a sunny day) + a few hours in bright sunlight, which will often make faint marks like this completely disappear from whites. If I am successful in my attempt, I will need to raise the the price for this piece $10 to reflect its increased value and to pay myself for my extra laundering (hand wash in cold water) time. But I am initially offering it up at a slightly reduced rate because my mending is currently piled pretty high. I am almost certain that this treatment will completely restore this dress to a pristine vintage condition, but it should be executed with extreme caution and a light hand, to ensure that no peroxide touches any colored portions of the print. I recommend dabbing it carefully with a VERY lightly moistened cotton swab, with a tissue held in back to absorb any excess moisture and reduce the risk of spreading.

To bodice of this dress is lined, the skirt is not. It closes in back with a metal zipper. Clean and ready to wear, as is. No maker’s tags are present. It looks as if it was custom made by a professional. High quality construction. Hand wash in cold water and line dry to extend its longevity.

Sizewise, I would estimate this dress to be a modern Small to a smaller Medium. But please see the measurements below. They were all taken with the garment laying flat, seam to seam, and have already been doubled where necessary. Please compare them to a similar garment of your own. There is not much stretch to the fabric, so leave yourself a bit of wiggle room.

PLEASE NOTE-> For reference, the lovely Electra is 5’8″ tall and a modern smaller medium. She was at the upper end of sizing for this piece.

Shoulders->13″ (33+ cm)
Bust->35″ (89 cm)
Waist->27″ (68+ cm)
Hips-> Free
Entire length->39″ (99+ cm)

This dress is so short and sassy, the skirt so full and fun. And it is probably one-of-a-kind, since it was custom made, so if you love it, don’t let it do-si-do away!
