PERFECT for that Fourth of July BBQ!
Introducing a sweet lil cutie pie of a dress; a classic, red & white check, maxi dress from the MELENY ROAD label by Sylvia Madon. This garment features an empire waist, a long-twirl-worthy skirt finished with a ruffle, and a built-in white belt with a matching red & white check buckle. There is no fabric label, but it feels and appears to be some sort of poly-blend-knit.
The Meleny Road label released this popular design in several different print choices during the early 1970’s. Sweet charming simplicity!
This particular dress is in VERY GOOD vintage condition. The only flaws found are very minor, a few extremely LIGHT yellowish stains on the belt, obviously (from the shape) from the underside of the belt buckle. They should be covered up when the belt is fastened, but they may also come out with a good spot removal attempt…as they are very light. This dress is hand or machine washable, although I’d recommend hand washing and line drying.
Also worth mentioning, the red cotton thread on the belt will need to be resewn in a few spots, near where the belt buckles. It has broken in a few spots (very common with vintage items sewn with cotton), but it has not completely unraveled. Five minutes on a sewing machine and it will be as good as new!
DETAILED PHOTOS AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. The price of this great lil dress has already been adjusted to reflect these very minor flaws and they do not impair the wearability of the garment. Otherwise EXCELLENT.
The size tag reads a vintage size 7, and I’d classify it as a modern SMALL. But please see the measurements below. They were all taken with the garment laying flat, seam to seam, and have already been doubled where necessary. Please compare them to a similar garment of your own.
My lovely model is 5’5″, for reference. Perfect.
Bust->33″ (side to side, there may be a bit more room, front to back)
This dress is so freaking cute, and still relevant today, for an easy, flattering, retro feminine look.
So if you love it, don’t let it get away!
