Introducing a vintage 1980’s, polka dot, peplum mini dress. Such an iconic 80’s look, with great poof sleeves, a short and sassy length, a subtly dropped sweetheart waist, and wonderful peplum ruffle skirt. I absolutely LOVE this one, my hauties, and would definitely be keeping it, if it were my size. It’s dresses like these that got me into 80’s vintage again! There was some really cool stuff going on during that era and this extra fun piece would make an awesome addition to any collection.
This dress is in very good-excellent vintage condition. The only flaw found is one of the painted on polka dots has been rubbed pretty thin on the skirt, and there are a few very minor cracks in the paint of others, here and there, that aren’t even really worth mentioning, but better safe than sorry! (I do my best to list e v e r y t h i n g .) None are very noticeable when the dress is being worn, and a crafty lady could probably find a matching, off-white color, paint to just lightly fill in any polka dots that need a lil face lift.
Because this dress is made from a light, crisp, semi-stiff synthetic fabric (that I believe is Acetate), which has been painted, it is Dry Clean Only.
This garment is unlined and closes in back with an acrylic zipper. There are no surviving tags, so I’m not sure who made it, but it is Super-Duper Cute! <3
PLEASE NOTE-> Close-up photos are available upon request. Feel free to message me.
Sizewise, I would guesstimate this piece to be a modern larger Medium- smaller Large. But please see the measurements below. They were all taken with the garment laying flat, seam to seam, and have already been doubled where necessary. Please compare them to a similar garment of your own. There is almost no stretch to the fabric and it should not be pulled too taut, because it has a light-catching surface that highlights creases in the fabric. So make sure that you leave yourself some wiggle room! It should fit slightly loose.
The lovely Fiona is 5’10” tall, for reference, and a modern Medium. The dress was a tad bit too big on her, especially in the shoulders, but its silhouette is so darling, it still looked awesome! There are no shoulder pads.
Shoulders-> 16″ (40.5+ cm)
Bust->37″ (94 cm)
Waist->32″ (81+ cm)
Hips->39″ (99+ cm)
Sleeve length->24″ (61 cm)
Entire length->35″ (89 cm)
Such a fun and flirty lil piece. And I only have one, so if you love it, don’t let it get away!
